Community Singing
Community singing is a space to be present, to breathe, and to feel a sense of belonging. These gatherings welcome all voices, with no experience needed. We come together to sing for connection rather than perfection.
Held in Song:
Community Singing Group for Helpers
February 21 – March 28
Saturdays 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Friends House (60 Lowther Avenue, Toronto)
A welcoming singing circle for helpers. We’ll sing simple, heart-centered songs as a group to support nurturing and connection. No singing experience is needed and your voice is already enough. Step into a space where you can be present, express yourself, and be held by the voices around you.
Who it’s for
Open to those who provide care, support, and assistance in their work or communities. This includes therapists, educators, social workers, nurses, community workers, and anyone who spends their days helping others. It’s a chance to step into a space designed just for you, where your well-being matters too.
Why this circle
Many helpers spend their days holding others. This circle is an invitation to be held by shared voice and song at the end of the week. It’s a reminder that care can flow both ways, and that being supported is an essential part of sustaining your work and your heart.

What to expect
Each week, we gather to sing, move, and make music together, beginning with gentle grounding and warm-ups. Simple songs are taught by ear, and everyone is invited to join in in ways that feel right for you – singing, moving, listening, or resting. We invite songs from different cultures, connect over snacks, and, in warmer months, sing together in the rooftop garden for fresh air and renewal.
Who it’s for
Welcoming newcomers of all ages and families.
Why this circle
This circle was created to provide a welcoming space for newcomers to connect through song, share their voices, and build community. Singing together can be nourishing and empowering, and everyone’s voice and story is valued.
About the facilitators
Kate Keenan and Rieko Asaba, community song leaders and expressive arts facilitators, co-lead the circle in partnership with Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services. Made possible through funding support from the Ontario Arts Council and the Government of Ontario and Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services.
